The discount coupon, often referred to as a “promo code” online, is a code composed of letters and numbers that the customer can enter on the site to benefit from a promotional advantage when making a purchase. The coupon is most often entered at the time of payment.

Manage Coupons

Go to the Coupons tab in the E-commerce section to create and manage your coupons.

The coupon only applies to the subtotal of the cart, and does not concern delivery.

Create a Coupon

Click on Create a Coupon to create your coupon.
Set your coupon name as PROMO10 for example.
Specify whether the coupon is a fixed amount discount or a percentage discount.
Click on Create a Coupon.
Enter the amount/percentage of the discount in the field provided for your discount amount.

In the Conditions of Use box, define the optional characteristics of your coupon:

Restrict to certain products: if inactive, all your products inherit the discount coupon; if active, select the products for which the coupon is applicable.
Restrict to certain categories: if inactive, all your categories inherit the discount coupon; if active, select the categories for which the coupon is applicable.
Limit the total number of uses of the coupon: if you wish to limit the total uses of the coupon, check this box and enter the limit number in the field.
Set an expiration date for the coupon: if you want your coupon to be valid only for a defined period, check this box and then select its end date using the calendar.
Impose a minimum purchase amount: if you want the coupon to be usable only from a minimum purchase amount, check this box and enter the desired minimum amount.

Once the settings are filled in, click on Save.

⚠️ Once the coupon is created, it is impossible to modify the use parameters. You can only make it active or inactive. Therefore, check all the information before saving.

Manage Your Coupons

Your coupon now appears in your Coupons List. You have all its characteristics available, including its usage frequency and status.

Once your coupon is created, you can only modify its status:

Active: your coupon can be used on your site by your customers.
Inactive: your coupon cannot be used by your customers.
Expired: your coupon is inactive and you will not be able to activate it again. This status only applies to coupons with an expiration date. Once this date has passed, the coupon expires and becomes permanently inactive.

If the coupon was activated and then deactivated, and you wish to activate it again, the coupon does not reset but will activate with the same information as before its deactivation.

Sell Gift Cards

Do you want to offer gift cards to use on your site? This is entirely possible using the coupon system that employs the same management mechanisms. Just follow the step-by-step guide below.

As the creation of digital gift card codes is done manually, do not hesitate to add the note “For online gift card orders, allow 24 hours before receipt” to give yourself time to generate them.

Create the Product Sheet

To offer gift cards for sale on your site, you need to create gift card product sheets. You can create only one and use SKUs to vary the prices offered, or create a product sheet for each gift card amount. Specify the terms of use of the card as well as the sending time, by email or by post, of this card.

Create the Code

Once a customer has purchased a gift card, generate a coupon with a Fixed Amount:

Coupon Name: use a code generator to make it random and nondeterministic.
Discount Amount: enter the amount of the gift card purchased by the customer.
Total Number of Uses: 1
Expiration Date: you can set the limit usage date, which is generally 6 months to 1 year.
Minimum Cart Amount: these cards generally do not have a minimum purchase amount as they are a gift, so we do not recommend setting one.

Create the Gift Card

Design a nice gift card, using drawing software or a text editor.
Enter the gift card code.
Specify the terms, including the expiration date and usage.
Send the digital gift card by email to the customer.

It is currently not possible to associate a gift card coupon with a customer account. Therefore, it is not possible to use it several times. Be sure to specify that the card must be used in a single transaction.
