How it works
Pick company, sole trader or association, and the fields adjust straight away to match your case.
Add the site name, the publisher's identity, the publication director and your web host's contact details.
Grab the notice in one click or download the .txt file, then paste it onto a dedicated page of your site.
In France, the law on confidence in the digital economy (LCEN) of 21 June 2004 requires every publisher of a professional website to display a legal notice that visitors can access. Missing or inaccurate information exposes the publisher to penalties.
Showcase site, company blog or online store: as soon as a site has a professional purpose, it must publish its legal notice, usually through a footer link reachable from every page.
The publisher's identity (name, legal form, address, company registration number), the name of the publication director, plus the name and contact details of the site's host.
Don't mix them up: the legal notice identifies who publishes the site, while the Terms of Sale set out the commercial relationship between the seller and its customers. An online store needs both.
Tip: remember to update your notice every time you change registered office, host or status. This generator provides a basic template to adapt to your situation; it does not replace legal advice.
Frequently asked questions
Is a legal notice mandatory in France?
Yes, for any site open to the public, whether professional or personal. Article 6 of the LCEN law requires it, and missing mentions expose you to a year in prison and a 75,000 € fine for an individual, up to 375,000 € for a company.
What information has to appear?
For a company: name, legal form, share capital, registered address, RCS and SIRET numbers, contact details and the publication director. You also need the name, address and phone number of the site's host. The form asks for each of these as you type.
Is the generated text ready to publish?
It gives you a complete starting point to review and adapt to your activity. It isn't legal advice, so check that every detail matches your situation before putting the page online.
What about a sole trader?
Choose "sole trader". You have no share capital or RCS number to declare, but your SIRET and address stay mandatory, along with the trading name you operate under.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser: the text updates as you type, and nothing is sent to a server. You fill in the form, copy the result, then close the tab without leaving a trace.
